    Job Description: Shift Engineering Technician. Leeds. Shift Pattern 40 hrs 6-2/2-10. Skillection are working with their manufacturing client based in Leeds assisting them in finding a great Shift Engineering Technician for their team. Role and Responsibilities. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Shift Engineering Technician will have a flexible approach and be responsible for the reactive and proactive maintenance of the production shift to ensure production KPI's are met. The role will include development of existing engineering biased operators and our multi skilled apprentice so that they can assist with first line engineering tasks. In addition to this, projects to improve the performance and reliability of existing assets will be identified and developed by the job holder. The ability to work as a team and the willingness to assist operationally is also a key requirement of this position. The role is currently a day's/afters-based appointment although some night work may be required from time to time to meet operational needs. Skills and Experience. The position would suit motivated candidates, apprentice trained in a related engineering discipline (either mechanical or electrical OR both) with at least 5 years relevant experience within an SME or autonomous and dynamic business environment. The ability to grow and adapt with the business will be essential. A positive attitude and the ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure when required will be an asset. Demonstrable skills in engineering will be sought as reference to this position. An understanding and experience of engineering in a lean environment would be a distinct advantage. Good communication skills, both verbal and written is essential for reporting purposes. Basic level of Microsoft Office tools is essential. Experience and qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering are a pre-requisite. A background and understanding of Continuous Improvement are desirable but training would be given. Conditions of Employment. The position is full time, permanent and is based at the manufacturing site in Leeds. There may be occasional travel both within the UK and abroad. The position is salary paid and attracts the state enrolment pension scheme. The basic hours are 40hrs per week plus a reasonable amount of overtime in line with production demands is expected.
