    Job Description: Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer Birmingham, UK £45- 55k. This is a good opportunity for a proven senior electronics design engineer wth a background in power electronics design to take a step into the growing electronic vehicle market. This company is an established international electronics company and is expanding its electric vehicle systems capability in the UK. At this the company requires a few more engineers to compliment its existing hardware design and development team. The role: Electronics Design Engineer. The main focus of this role will be the design, development and analysis of power electronics products for the electric vehicle domain. Hence, they are very keen to recruit electronics engineers with industry experience in the following. Analogue electronics design experience (PCB / Board level electronics. Power semiconductor gate driver development (SiC, MOSFET, IGBT. The role would suit a degree / masters or PhD qualified engineer with industry experience that includes strong analogue and power electronics design experience. Knowledge of discrete componewide band gap (WBG) power electronics devices would be fantastic as would any experience of active gate driver design. Skills / Knowledge. A degree / masters of PhD in a relevant subject (electrical / electronic engineering, computer science, mechatronics) ideally with some relevant content focused towards power, analogue or automotive electronics systems. Excellent knowledge of power electronic devices and design for either high or low voltage applications (DCDC converters, Inverters, SMPS etc. An appreciation of automotive electronics design would be great although other high reliability or safety critical domains would prove useful (e.g. aerospace, defence, rail etc. Experience of schematic capture and ideally PCB layout as well as board development and analysis (use of tools such as OrCAD, Altium, etc. Good communication skills, team player and able to work in a small team environment. If not automotive experience those that have designed electronic systems using discrete components for applications such as LED, Laser, RF / Radar applications would be considered. Other skills: (useful / beneficial. A relevant PhD involving research into intelligent active gate drivers, active gate driver design, WBG devices or similar would be fantastic.
