Delta started as a crop dusting operation in 1924 and is now a global airline carrying 160 million passengers each year. Its headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia and, along with its subsidiaries, the airline operates over 5,400 flights daily to 334 destinations in 64 countries.

The current company is the result of many airline mergers over the past 80 years, the most recent being with Northwest Airlines in 2008. When Pan American World Airways went bankrupt in 1991, they bought a selection of its assets and routes and merged them into its operations.
