Billy Butlin opened the first Butlin’s resort in 1936 in Skegness, Lincolnshire, promising to offer ‘a week’s holiday for a week’s wages’.
Butlin’s now has three beachside resorts – Bognor Regis in West Sussex, Minehead in Somerset and Skegness in Lincolnshire – and welcomes around 1.5m holidaymakers each year.
Bognor Regis was the venue for Butlin’s first ever hotel, The Shoreline Hotel, opened in 2005. The Ocean Hotel followed in 2009 and apartments were introduced at the resort in 2012.
